Improving Communication Skills Are Key To Career & Personal Growth and Confidence

Transformative Leadership Communication Skills Creates Trust.  In life and especially in business communication skills are critical for success.  This is a soft skill that can be learnt and added to our list of strengths.  Below I have suggested some simple rules to apply to help you improve this skill.

10 Critical Communication rules:

  1. Self-awareness: Understand your own communication style, strengths, and weaknesses. Recognize areas where you can improve, such as active listening, clarity, or body language.
  2. Listen: Pay full attention to what others are saying, without interrupting or formulating your response prematurely. Show interest through nonverbal cues like nodding and maintaining eye contact.
  3. Practice EQ: Put yourself in the other person’s shoes to better understand their perspective, feelings, and motivations. This helps you tailor your communication to be more effective and empathetic.
  4. Clarity: Strive for clarity in your communication by avoiding jargon, unnecessary details, and ambiguous language. Get to the point quickly while ensuring your message is easily understood.
  5. Be curious: Encourage dialogue and demonstrate interest by asking open-ended questions. This not only helps you gather information but also fosters deeper connections with others.
  6. Feedback is key: Be open to feedback from others about your communication style and actively seek opportunities to improve. Similarly, provide constructive feedback to others in a respectful and considerate manner.
  7. Adapive leadership: Tailor your communication style to suit the preferences, knowledge level, and cultural background of your audience. This may involve adjusting your tone, vocabulary, or delivery method accordingly.
  8. Your energy: Pay attention to your body language, gestures, and facial expressions to ensure they align with your verbal message. Maintain open and inviting posture to convey approachability and confidence.
  9. Tell it your way: Use storytelling as a powerful tool to engage and persuade others. Structure your narratives effectively, using anecdotes and examples to illustrate key points and evoke emotions.
  10. Take action: Practice your communication skills in various settings, such as conversations, presentations, meetings, and networking events. The more you practice, the more confident and proficient you’ll become.

By consistently applying these rules and seeking continuous improvement, you can grow your communication skills and build stronger relationships personally and professionally
