Performance Mastery
UNDERSTANDING ‘PERFORMANCE”
High-performing leaders strive to achieve outstanding results by inspiring and coaching their teams to perform at their best. They are proactive, forward-thinking, and committed to continuous improvement for themselves, their team and organisation.
Try a quick check-in on your ability to improving performance (P) for you and your Team, by taking a holistic approach to growing potential (p), and decreasing, limiting or removing interferences (-i): P=p-i *
STEP 1: Your “performance vitality”
Take a moment to look at this IPQ diagram above, each quad represents a critical part of our performance potential. Then understand what each one represents, on diagram below It shows when each segment is performing well we operate with purpose, balance, energy and rhythm. Use your ‘inner-self reflection’ with this quick check-in on your performance vitality:
- I AM, is ME & My Contribution – Do my values reflect in my words & actions? How is my knowledge, experience & skills growing? Are these current or do I need further preparation to feel sufficiently prepared. Does my contribution balance with my growth plans?
- My Presence, is My Mental & Emotional Wellness – Mental attitude, mindset, confidence and belief – are these helping or hindering my performance? What do I need to build my confidence, let go of negative thoughts and be proactive in doing positive practices. Control the controllables and stay connected. Who’s is your eco-system, supporting you? Reaching out and create awareness of what you need?
- My Form, is My Physical Body & Space – This effects my presence and energy levels – What builds my energy, what depletes it? Create a daily rhythm, what lifestyle needs and physical health needs more attention? Is your physical environment organised and ready for challenge. What can I do to create a better space, mood and environment.
- My Will, is My Plan to Grow– Planning & execution: Understanding setting and working on my performance segments (IPQ1-3) will get you to the end goal (IPQ 4) . Having a plan and goals is critical, when then need to activate these to improve future performance.

STEP 2: Focus on my priorities to GROW!
Once you create clarity on your current reality in each segment, we then need to ask ourselves a few simple questions, the answers will help you focus on the priorities needed to improving performance in each segment.
These questions are:
Q1. My Vision & Goals in this segment are?
Q2. Reality check – what are the ‘interferences’ (challenges \ obstacles)?
Q3. What Options do I have, that I can use now?
Q4: Be Willing to add / change? List my 3 Actions for each segment:
Q5: How can I hold myself accountable? What Measures will determine success?
By asking these five questions to each segment, this will provide insight and clarity, boost control, confidence, and improve motivation. It creates options (what if we / I tried x…?). Gradually, this approach will lead to overall holistic improvement in performance.
When using the IPQ, we suggest, encouraging performance in an open and supportive way, rather than been critical or judgemental is essential, this creates trust, connectedness and maximises learning. The growth comes when taking and giving feedback is ‘advice / support’ and not ‘criticism’. Use it to challenge growing ones potential and learning about the interferences that hold us back or block us from reaching our peak performance.
